Souther Berry Linkinhoker Recio (they/she/elle/ella) is a multi disciplinary artist focused mostly in sculpture through ceramic, instillation work, and performance art. Their work is deeply tied to the things that matter to them. Recio is moved by big emotions, particularly the grief and rage that runs through the veins of being socialized as a woman and what that means for how women are viewed and treated in society.

Their work is often uncomfortable and difficult to look at. Recio, a true performer at heart, enjoys eliciting a response with their art. Weather you loved it or hated it, if you felt a visceral reaction then the art was successful.

Recio received their BA from St. Edward’s University in Austin Texas in 2016 and has always straddled the line between artist and thespian. They have been involved in theater in some capacity since they were six years old, and have found a way to weave performance and theatrics into their fine art.

They currently run Cactus Valley Art & Supply Company, a queer centric art space in Harlingen Texas where they manage a modest gallery space, host events and workshops, and sell new and used art supplies.
