BLOOMING FEELS WEIRD is the culmination of the inaugural Rio Grande Ceramic Residency program hosted by Ponte Trucha and Carla Hughes. The residency spanned roughly 6 weeks where Recio spent their time sculpting and building various ceramic pieces, the largest spanning over six feet across. BLOOMING FEELS WEIRD is about the internal struggle of being yourself, particularly inspired by Recio’s own journey and the early stages of coming out of the closet as queer. On display at Carla Hughes’ Art Studio in August of 2022.
